Hey Ya’ll! Yesterday was International Women’s Day and the kickoff to Professional Pet Sitters Week, so we thought we’d do a spotlight on our Founder, Co-Owner and Top Paw: Jessica Milam!
Maybe you are new here, maybe you’ve been here for awhile, but I’m Jessica. I’m the Founder of Fur Services (2013) and the ‘Top Paw’ here. I’m behind nearly all of the social media, emails, cards and communication you receive from us!
International Women’s Day is about celebrating the accomplishments of women, so I figured I’d share with you all what has brought me here and why Fur Services is something special with me behind the leash!
Spotlight: Jessica Milam, the Early Years
My early pet industry / business experience includes:
- Rescue Work 2003-2005 and 2013-2014
- Fostering & Adoption (to date, we have fostered more than a dozen dogs and cats and adopted 11 dogs and cats)
- Boarding, Daycare, Grooming & Training (including management)
- Associates of Science in Business Management 2009
- Bachelors of Science in Business Management, Minor in Leadership in 2011
- Pet Sitting from 2007 through 2009
Spotlight: Jessica Milam, the Fur Services Years
In 2013 I started Fur Services to become an affordable resource to pet owners in our neighborhood. I had no idea where this would go, how many people we would impact through care and employment and how far reaching our team would be!
A lot has changed since those early days, but the things that haven’t changed:
- My passion for providing the absolute best level of customer service there is
- My desire to providing absolute peace of mind for pet owners while their pets and homes are in our care
- My requirement that we, as pet care providers, offer the highest of quality backed by the most and best training in the industry
- My desire to elevate the pet care industry through training and education
Since starting Fur Services Fur Pets, I’ve:
- become a Certified Professional Pet Sitter through Pet Sitters International (PSI)
- become a Certified Pet Sitter through National Association of Professional Pet Sitters
- completed the Fetch Find Pet Industry Training including all dog, cat and COVID sections
- become COVID-19 Safety Certified through PSI
- attended more than a dozen Pet Sitting / Dog Walking industry conferences and a few dozen individual industry training
- become Pet CPR/First Aid Certified through Pet Tech, Inc. First Aid & Care for Your Pets
- currently becoming Fear Free Pets Certified
- applying to become a Positive Reinforcement Dog Trainer
As the head of Fur Services, I am dedicated to continue learning, continue growing and continue developing the absolute best pet care company you will ever find!
